Join Us for a New Play Reading: When the Bird Is Done

Directed by Susanna Frazer

I’m delighted to invite you to a special staged reading of the new play When the Bird Is Done by Michael Fishman, as part of Morningside Players Theater Co.’s Monthly New Play Reading Series.

🗓 Sunday, January 11

🕔 5:00 PM

📍 100 La Salle Street, New York, NY 10027

This reading brings to life a fresh and layered family drama set in an Upper West Side walk-up over Thanksgiving. With humor that cuts deep and moments that linger, the play explores the unspoken truths that bind—and sometimes break—families.

As director, I’m honored to work with this wonderful cast:

  • Mark Hofmaier as Frank

  • Danielle Johnson as Emily

  • Bridget Leicester as Ann

  • Eli Mazursky as Max

  • James Nash as Adam

  • Donna Welby as Martha

The staged reading format creates a unique space: actors bring the text to life in its early form, and you get to be part of the creative conversation. Your presence, energy, and feedback help shape the future of new work, and there’s no better way to experience the heart of live theater.

🎟 Admission is free

🍷 Drinks and snacks will be served

Whether you’re a longtime supporter of new plays or curious about the developmental side of theater, I’d love to see you there.

Thank you for supporting live theater and new writing—see you at the reading!
